Foot & Mouth: From the outbreak of Foot and Mouth in February 2001 Northern Construction became involved in various roles. On Friday 27th February 2001 we were requested to establish temporary accommodation at Rosehill Industrial Estate Carlisle to house 50 staff who would be arriving the following Monday. Over the next few months as the disease spread our staff worked continuously to increase the accommodation until we had established what had then become known as the D.E.C.C. Site (Disease Emergency Control Centre) which was a fully operational site accommodating 1500 staff including vets from all over the world, military personnel, and government officials. We were also resposible for setting up many satelite sites throughout the county to accommodate these personnel. |
